Looking forward to our upcoming collaboration with Enough Pie, the Clemson Architecture Center.Charleston and The Sustainability Institute.
Local indigo artists are leading a movement to bring back the original seed and natural dye with VAT SHACK, which will share the cultural, artistic, scientific, historic and spiritual aspects of indigo with the community.
Fun fact: In North America indigo was introduced into colonial South Carolina by Eliza Lucas Pinckney, where it became the colony’s second most important cash crop (after rice).
We hope that this part of Charleston’s history can reach and inspire all and that you will take part… much more to come!
